Nothing fills you with warmth on a cold, foggy day like a hot soup. And when you find a restaurant serving both soup and salads on PIER 39, a San Francisco landmark, you’d best prepare for an experience that warms you from belly to soul.

The Best Clam Chowder at Fisherman’s Wharf

If you have anything when dining at Pier Market Seafood Restaurant, you absolutely must try our New England Clam Chowder, which was voted the best on Fisherman’s Wharf. You can have this soup in a cup or, more iconically, in a sourdough bread bowl to soak up all the creamy goodness.

Since this version of the iconic San Francisco soup is loaded with bacon, it packs a particularly sweet & savory punch. You can also go for a whole meal and order the Clam Chowder in a Sourdough Bowl & Salad Combo at our PIER 39 restaurant. Pack in the seafood goodness by adding crab to the dish.

Fresh, Sustainable Ingredients

Since we opened our doors more than 40 years ago, Pier Market Seafood Restaurant has been committed to using only high-quality ingredients and cooking our seafood over mesquite charcoal. This gives our food a distinct smoky flavor and seals in the natural juices.

Because we source sustainable seafood caught in the Bay Area and produce grown in nearby farms, you’ll enjoy our dishes cooked at the height of freshness and flavor.

All in the Family

Pier Market is one of several restaurants by the Simmons family, whose patriarch Warren Simmons conceptualized and created PIER 39 as a place for locals and tourists to gather and mingle while enjoying delicious food. The restaurant first opened its doors in 1983 and has been serving its specialty, mesquite-grilled seafood, ever since.
